Why are you an Adventist (Besides being born an Adventist or your parents being an Adventist)
Herman, 26, Morobe Province, Papua New Guinea: The fact that I belong to this world family having one common faith and beliefs. Also, that I get to rest from my normal every day routine for a date, the Sabbath. Salawu, 17, Kwara State, Nigeria: My name is Salawu. I love being an Adventist because I found the truth and I am in Nigeria. My father is yet to be converted so I need your prayer. Amanda, 15, New York, United States: Being an Adventist gives you a complete experience with God. I am 15 years old now and I have recognized over the years that being an Adventist made me closer to God and also gives me a mission- the mission to tell others of God’s love and of His second coming. Being Seventh-day Adventist gives me the satisfied life I want to live and makes me an example for others. I also get to socialize with other Seventh-day Adventists who share my beliefs and goals. Adventism has also introduced me to God and until death do us part. I have faith, joy and peace that passeth understanding! Adventism is leading me on a pathway to heaven! Mukumbi, 20, Lusaka, Zambia: I am one of those whose been Adventist since birth, and I am Adventist not because of my affiliation to being born Adventist, but because I believe that the Seventh-day Adventists are the ones bearing the truth as it is in Jesus. We are the spiritual Israel of today; God’s chosen people, the ones to carry the gospel to all the world. In us the truth is very logical and makes great sense and above all, we are thus represented as those who keep his commandments and have the faith of Jesus and that is why I am proud to be called an Adventist. Salau, 17, Kwara State, Nigeria: I am very glad to be an Adventist, though I was born in the church. We went to the last camp meeting and I was fortunate to see our president, Pastor Onaolapo Ajibade. I really appreciate that he preached and I was touched. May God continue to bless the church until I here any reply. Jemoy, 20, Nevis: I believe in the Advent message and that the seventh day is the Sabbath for our Lord our God. Ombui, 21, Kapsabet, Kenya: I am an Adventist because I have discovered who God is and what he wants us to do. He speaks through the Bible. Gilbert, 25, Cameroon: I am the first in my family to become an Adventist Member Kim, 28, California, United States: My senior year at Loma Linda Academy we were required to take a course studying the religions of the world. In doing so, it made me question why I really was a Seventh-day Adventist. After prayer and study on my own, I decided that the Seventh-day Adventist religion is the closest to the truths contained in the Bible. Therefore, I remain an Adventist and I am raising my own daughter in the church as well. Cherise, 28: I am a 5 th generation Adventist on both sides of my family. But I am an Adventist because of my own relationship with Jesus, and because as I have studied I know that the Adventist Church is a truly biblical church and that we have a message to tell the world. Faith, 19: I am an Adventist because I believe that Jesus will come for His second return and that the Sabbath is the seventh day of the week and the true day of worship. (The Bible says so). Melissa, 13, Texas, United States: Well, I am an Adventist because I love God and I gave him my heart when I decided to be baptized. I think being an Adventist is a wonderful way of living, always being with our Lord. Ana, 16, Ohio, United States: Personally I just love pathfinders. It gives me the responsibility to be a role model to those younger ones and get closer to God. If there is one thing that is keeping me in church, it would be the pathfinders. Sabine, 14: I don’t really know any other religion besides Baptist. And it feels right. Sorin, 19, Bucharest, Romania : Why am I an Adventist? That's a really good question. And the truth is that I never gave it too much thought...until now.... We as persons are unique, and I think that being an Adventist makes us more unique. You don't have to be born an Adventist to be one. I think that those who were born in a different religion and later became Adventists know best about this issue. Being an Adventist means that you have this special and unique relationship with God, that you believe in Him with all your heart. I know it's hard to obtain this kind of relationship and even harder to keep it. Those who suffered due to their faith know better...they knew what it means to be an Adventist. I'm not implying that we all must now suffer, I'm just saying that we have to be proud of what we are, we must not be ashamed because people look weird at us. We are what we are and nothing can change that, except ourselves. Being an Adventist means to have a goal in life, to have a strong set of principles to guide you through this crazy world. People look weird at us because they are terrified, they cannot understand why we are so cool and smiling when all sort of things happen around us, things that misdirect the others. Being an Adventist means to be yourself, to accept who you are and to trust God more that anything.
