Q: During the latest Let's Talk broadcast Pastor Paulsen asked the participants, "What would you like to see the church do differently? What do you expect from leadership?" What is your opinion?

Cornell, 21, Tennessee, United States: I would like to see more unity within our church as a whole. There are too many barriers. Age, ethnicity, doctrinal, etc. are allowed to divide the house of God against itself and we know that a house divided against itself cannot stand. If we would only unite in pursuing the objective set before us by Christ in MARK 16:15 "Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.”I believe that youth who are open and diligent, who don't cater to the concept that churches should become more worldly to cater to us as youth, will find it much easier to become more involved in church functions. I expect leadership to adhere to sound Christian principals and to train members to do the same. We are told that "With such an army of workers as our youth, rightly trained, might furnish, how soon might the end come. Is the lack of this army the only impedance to the Coming of Christ?

Nkosilathi, 22, Bulawayo, Zimbabwe: There is a problem with young people because they are not being given enough time to learn for themselves. Most of the times we are together with adults and of course they will be controlling the discussions. So I am appealing to the church leadership to allocate more time to the youths so as to discover the truth about life.

Cynthia, 23, Entre Rios, Argentina: I think we have to stop giving priority to the formal things, and start thinking about what’s inside of each person. I would also suggest to give less importance to numbers and really take care of those people who come to our church and baptized.

Daniela, 19, Craova, Romania: I like that people in church spend more time with the Bible, not to discuss about other people. People must spend more time with people who need to have a friend.

Grace, 24, Florida, United States: I would like to see more of our churches catering to the youth, so that so many of them wouldn’t stray and become more of the worldly things.

Shaina, 15, New Jersey, United States: I would like to see church as a whole geared more toward the youth. I expect leadership to allow the youth of the church to take charge more often instead of the routine, “The youth are the future” speeches. Less Talk. More action!

Tavis, 20, Jamaica: What I would like to say that the church leaders need not to give up on their young people, they need to get to know them more. Stop judging on the outside and find out what is one the inside. As I was reading a literature book To Kill a Mocking Bird, Atticus said, you need to move around into the persons skin to feel what they are feeling inside them (not quoted). The leaders need to put themselves into the position, get down to earth and take off their professionalism. A lot of times the young person just need a little motivation to stay in the ship, but because of someone’s attitude, speech words, or action towards them or someone else, they are out the door and it is hard to get them back.

Teka-Ann, 24, California, United States: In answer to what Id like to see the church do differently, I'll say be proactive on the social issues we spoke about in the 'Have Your Say!' a couple weeks ago. What do I expect from the leadership of this church? Exactly what they are doing now by asking us these questions, but also reacting by meeting our concerns.

Jeaneth, 23, Adventist University of the Philippines, Philippines: Hello to everyone. The church must look differently, through characters, spirituality, and it must be Christ centered. Most of all we also love to each other.....Hebrew 12:1"let us run with patience the race that is set before us"(v.2).” Looking unto Jesus the author and the finisher of our faith, who, for the joy that was set before Him, endured the cross. From leadership, I know many members are expecting a lot of you. Like me, I experience it as a president of some small group here in my school. My co-officers is expect a lot that I can do the programs. my advice to my fellow leaders is we do our best for our groups, we were selected to be leaders and not a commanders. We can be a commander but we must also be the follower of our commands. I hope you'll get what I mean, as a leader we must have a Christ centered. Go on as God chosen you to be the leader of the church, youth, or etc. Remember we must run with patience the race that set before us, leader must be remember it! God bless us All! Thank you for reading it.

Dave, 24, Ohio, United States: I would like to see leaders that live up to and enforce the insight God has given in the Bible and the Spirit of Prophecy.

Lyson, 21, Malawi: I would like to see the Adventist church doing things like one family. Why do we differ? Why is it so difficult for we, as Adventists, to be humble and treat each other like brothers and sisters of the same family? Why do we look at differences which separates us and we even go to the extent of having separate churches, yet we are one family: the Adventist Church. I mean, why do we let things like race, tribes, and clans separate us? Why do we have a different understanding of the scriptures as Adventists, I mean, why can’t we observe the Sabbath day without arguing as one family? I would like to see the church one day united without differences and segregation.
